OFT 267 - Medical Office Documentation
3 Credits
Students will use medical terminology and keyboarding skills in transcribing medical documents for major medical fields. Emphasis on accuracy, document formatting, grammar principles, production, and understanding of the responsibilities and competencies of the medical office support staff.
Prerequisites: HIM 104 and OFT 111 and OFT 141.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Transcribe authentic physician dictation by body systems or medical specialty.
2. Develop selective hearing skills necessary as a medical transcriptionist.
3. Transcribe a variety of dictation variables (regional or foreign) and in style and punctuation.
